Company Description
Outback Adventures is the leading outdoor adventure
guide service and specialty retailer with two Bay Area locations.
Throughout the summer months we operate a full service kayak
shop and outdoor equipment rental center. During the winter
months we primarily rent skis, snowboards, and mountaineering
equipment with an emphasis on Nordic and backcountry skiing.
We offer classes and trips for kayaking, rock climbing, backpacking,
and mountaineering throughout the Bay
Area and California.

Description
Outback Adventures has the following positions available:
Part-time Sales Staff
Outdoor Guide / Instructor positions
Sales Staff duties include retail sales, operating the cash register, rentals, stocking merchandise, moving kayaks and equipment, and customer service. This position is available at both the San Jose and Marin store locations.
Outdoor Guide / Instructor positions include instructing, leading, and guiding clients in wilderness environments while keeping client care and safety as top priority. Currently we are seeking kayaking and rock climbing guides, but applicants with experience in other disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
We are looking for outdoor enthusiasts to join the dedicated Outback Adventures
family. Serious and passionate applicants are encouraged to apply.
Sales Staff: Previous work experience in the outdoor industry is helpful, but not mandatory. Previous retail or service industry experience preferred. Personal outdoor experience in some area is essential. Must be able to lift kayaks and other heavy objects with assistance. Applicants must be reliable, thorough, honest, and professional. Some weekend and/or evening availability is required.
Outdoor Guide / Instructor: Guide and Instructor applicants must have extensive personal experience in a particular outdoor recreation discipline. Currently we are seeking kayaking and rock climbing guides, but applicants with experience in other disciplines are encouraged to apply. Previous experience in the educational or outdoor field is helpful. Advanced wilderness first aid training is desired, basic first aid training is required. Applicant must be in good physical condition and able to carry heavy equipment such as a kayak or a fully loaded backpack. Weekend availability is required.
