Del Valle Regional Park
Location Description

Nestled in a picturesque oak studded valley just outside of Livermore, Del Valle Regional Park is one of the crown jewels of the East Bay Regional Park District. Winding one's way through the bucolic Livermore Wine Country, the placid waters of Lake Del Valle appear almost as a mirage among the fluted golden hills. Located just a short drive from San Francisco, Del Valle and the surrounding public lands offer a peaceful retreat from the urban bustle.

This year-round recreation destination offers something for every outdoors enthusiast, from family friendly activities such as camping, picnicking, hiking, and swimming to more adventurous pursuits like mountain biking, backpacking, and kayaking.

Watersports

With a ten mph speed limit enforced on the lake, kayaks, sailboats, and stand up paddleboards rule the waterway, and lend a quiet peacefulness to the atmosphere. Outback Adventures offers kayaking lessons, kayaking tours, and paddleboarding lessons, as well as kayak rentals and paddleboard rentals.

With a temperate climate and warm waters, Lake Del Valle is the perfect place to learn to kayak or paddle board. Miles of pristine shoreline and abundant wildlife make for memorable watersport adventures. Lucky paddlers might spot majestic Bald Eagles soaring overhead or fishing for trout. Or try your hand at catching your own trout! Del Valle is stocked regularly with a variety of sport fish and Del Valle makes a great place to learn the ropes.

Family Fun

Kick back in one of Del Valle's many family or group camp sites or enjoy some down time at the swim beach. If you want to up the fun factor rent some picnic games from Outback Adventures such as volleyball nets, horseshoes, and bocce ball sets. Learn about the natural history of the area by speaking with a naturalist at the Rocky Ridge Visitor Center or by participating in a campfire program at the amphitheater. Feel free to bring Fido along, as dogs are allowed on many trails and elsewhere in the park.

Mountain Biking

Test your mountain biking skills on the many miles of scenic biking trails with a mountain bike rental from Outback Adventures. From relatively flat and wide fire roads to steep and serpentine singletrack, fat tire adventures abound at Del Valle Regional Park.

Hiking, Backpacking, and Equestrian

For deep solitude seekers, Del Valle Regional Park is also the gateway to the Ohlone Regional Wilderness, with 28 miles of backcountry trails popular with hikers and equestrians alike. Camping

There's so much to do at Del Valle and one day just isn't enough. To enjoy all that Del Valle has to offer, consider staying the weekend at one of over 150 tent or RV camping sites. Just be sure to make a campsite reservation because Del Valle is a popular place.

Great Place for Groups

Del Valle's close proximity to San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and the surrounding East Bay make this a perfect location for large groups, business retreats, and corporate team building events. Del Valle offers fantastic group picnic areas, BBQ grills, running water, bathrooms, food vendors, and even a general store.
