Stevens Creek Reservoir

Stevens Creek ReservoirStevens Creek Reservoir is a 92 acre non-power boating reservoir, conveniently located in the South Bay foothills near Highway 280 in Cupertino. The reservoir provides paddlers with peace and quiet, warm yet refreshing water in the summer, and abundant wildlife. These qualities combine to make Stevens Creek Reservoir a great kayaking and paddleboarding (SUP) destination.

Stevens Creek Reservoir is Outback Adventures' home base for kayak rentals and kayaking instruction and paddleboard rentals and paddleboard instruction.

The warm, protected lake waters provide a perfect training ground to learn basic kayak and paddleboarding skills before heading out onto one of Outback's intermediate and advanced courses in the ocean environment. During peak season, groups of paddling students can be found meeting under our boat ramp canopy almost every weekend. Remember to pre-register for your course!

Just a short jaunt from the hustle and bustle of the greater San Jose Area, Stevens Creek Dam is ideal for people looking for a different outdoor activity to do on a weekend afternoon. In addition to kayak and paddleboard rentals and instruction, this Santa Clara County Park offers an array of outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, picnicking, and mountain biking. Stevens Creek Reservoir is also a popular rest stop among the many cyclists riding along Stevens Canyon Road.

A popular choice for visitors is picnicking along the shaded shoreline at the Lakeshore Picnic Area. This area is complete with barbecues, picnic tables, running water, and toilets. It also features a relatively gentle landing to park or hand launch small watercraft. If you are not renting your watercraft from Outback Adventures, be sure to get it inspected at the main boat launch area prior to arriving at the Lakeshore Picnic Area.

Outback Adventures' kayak and paddleboard rental facility is located on the boat ramp in the main parking lot. Hourly kayak and paddleboard rentals are available every weekend starting mid-May through mid September and sometimes longer, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. For rental pricing and more specific information please visit our web page for Stevens Creek Reservoir Kayak Rentals and Stand Up Paddleboard Rentals.

Stevens Creek Reservoir is also a great place to try out a kayak or paddleboard if you have been thinking about buying one. Many of the kayaks and paddleboards that we sell in our retail stores can be tried out at Stevens Creek Reservoir, but please call ahead of time if you are interested in a particular model.
