Mountaineering Destinations

California is a mountaineering paradise with long periods of stable weather, alpine granite, and some of the highest peaks in the contiguous US. The volcanoes of Northern California including Lassen Peak and Mount Shasta offer great mountaineering experiences for climbers with any level of experience, and many climbers find themeselves on their flanks again and again. Lassen Peak, at 10,457 feet (3187 meters) offers a great introduction, and is our location of choice for out backcountry skiing workshop. Mount Shasta, 14, 162 feet (4316 meters) is a very popular summit for many bay area mountaineers.
