Course
Description: Start your kayaking adventures off right by learning essential paddling and safety skills on calm water. This comprehensive course will cover equipment, strokes, paddling technique, capsizing, dealing with a flooded kayak, and re-entries. Come ready to get wet and have a good time on this skill and confidence building class. This class is offered in two different types of kayaks. No experience necessary.
What to Bring:
- Wear synthetic, wool, or silk clothing
(swimsuit, shirt, shorts, jacket, & warm cap) rather
than cotton
- Water (none available at Stevens Creek!)
- Food (sandwich, fruit, energy bars)
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Sun Hat
- Retainer straps for glasses
- Booties, water shoes, or sport sandals
- Consider bringing a tip for your instructor
/ guide for exceptional service
Level: Recommended
for beginners
Time: 10:00am - approximately 4:00pm

Directions from San
Jose: From San Jose
take highway 280 north to Foothill Blvd. Head south on Foothill
towards
the hills, where it becomes Stevens Canyon Road. Wind
your way
up until Stevens Creek Reservoir becomes visible on your
left. Park in the lot on the left side of the road and
meet next to the large storage box located near the
boat
ramp. Parking passes can be purchased
below the dam at the lower parking lot for a $5 fee.
