Introduction to the Surf Zone
A must for coastal touring, kayak surfing, and open water paddling - Level 3
Gain the confidence and skills necessary for entering and exiting the surf zone. Learn launch and landing skills and how to handle breaking waves. Topics covered include side surfing, bracing, wave dynamics, and surf zone safety and etiquette. This class is so much fun, many choose to take it more than once. If time and conditions allow, we will review open water reentries.

Sea Kayaking Development class, Coastal Kayaking Skills class, or equivalent
What to Bring:
- Wear synthetic clothing rather than cotton (swimsuit, shirt, shorts, lightweight pants, jacket)
- Water

- Retainer straps for glasses
- Booties, water shoes, or sport sandals
- Consider bringing a tip for your instructor / guide for exceptional service

Directions to Bolinas
Directions from Santa Rosa
Travel South on Highway 101 until you reach mill valley. Take the Stinson Beach/Highway 1 exit and follow the signs to Stinson Beach. Continue North on Highway 1 through the town of Stinson Beach. Bolinas Lagoon will be on your Left. At the end of the Lagoon, take your first left onto an unmarked road. Bear Left at the yield sign onto Olema Bolinas Road. After a mile or so, you will come to a T-intersection. Take a Left and follow the road into town. Take a right on Brighton Ave and continue for 1/4 mile. You will see a tennis court on your right. The road dead-ends at the beach a couple hundred feet later. Meet here at road's end.
