Corte
Madera Salt Marsh Ecological Reserve (Larkspur)
Come explore the wetlands along Corte Madera Marsh while
taking in the views of Mount Tampalpais and the San Francisco
Bay. We will paddle out in stable double sea kayaks while
keeping our eyes open for the curious harbor seals that gather
nearby. If conditions permit, we may
take an optional side trip past the infamous San Quentin
Prison, then stop for lunch
on
a nice sandy beach with incredble
views.

and Explore Angel Island (Sausilito)
Let's pack our kayaks and take a real
kayaking adventure to Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay.
While
paddling
the majestic Bay, take in the spectacular views of San Francisco,
Mt. Tamalpais, Mt. Diablo, and the East Bay areas. Designated
as a State Park, Angel Island boasts a long history of many
uses. Angel
Island was once a Miwok Indian Village, a military installation
site from the Civil War to the Cold War, and termed the "Ellis
Island of the West" during 1910-1940. Conditions permitting,
a circumnavigation of the island provides an exciting view
of the bay usually reserved for stronger groups. This kayak
trip is appropriate for beginner and intermediate paddlers
in good physical condition.

Bair Island and Corkscrew Slough (Redwood
City)
Take an exciting tour of Bair Island Ecological Reserve and
Corkscrew Slough and experience the serenity of being surrounded
by a maze of waterways. On this kayaking tour, you will spend
time exploring the many winding channels of the slough while
observing many wetland bird species. This adventure is for
those looking for a longer exploratory tour in a true slough
environment.

Tomales Bay (Point Reyes)
Experience one the premier paddling
destinations in California on this guided kayak tour. Wildlife
abounds in this spectacular setting. Colorful sea stars
slide beneath your kayak as majestic Thule Elk roam the
hillsides. One of the largest protected bay and coastal
areas in California, this kayaker's paradise is a short
distance from San Francisco and the Bay Area. Launching
from Nick's Cove, we will paddle in stable double sea kayaks,
past Hog Island, to the White Cliffs of Tomales Bay, a
unique geological formation similar to the White Cliffs
of Dover. We will then stop for lunch on a pristine beach,
accessible only by small watercraft. This kayak trip is
appropriate for beginner and intermediate paddlers in good
physical condition.

Marin
Islands (Larkspur)
Join Outback Adventures friendly and experienced
guides for this exciting trip out to East and West Marin
Islands. Located about an hour’s paddle from our Larkspur
headquarters, this federally protected marine sanctuary is
home to a plethora of resident and migratory bird species,
including the largest egret and heron rookery in the San
Francisco Bay area. Because of it’s protected status,
we won’t land on these beautiful islands, but we will
snack at a sandy beach near the infamous San Quentin state
prison before returning to port.

II Home Front National Historical Park. Representing six
million American women who worked in munitions factories
during WWII, Rosie The Riveter is now a cultural icon.
Located in Richmond California, these historic Shipyards
constitute the largest WWII shipyard operation in the U.S.
Our knowledable guides will lead you on a tour
of this National Historic Park from a unique perpective.
Among the
many highlights of this trip is a chance to paddle
alongside the SS Red Oak Victory Ship. Awarded to the Richmond
Museum of History by Congress in 1966, the Red Oak was
stationed in Pearl Harbor from 1945 until the end of the
war serving as an ammunition ship for other ships in the
area.
