Trip Details
Course Description: Lassen
Peak: Experience the thrill of untouched backcountry powder
and corn snow in this three day overnight course. You will
practice with avalanche transceivers, and learn about avalanche
awareness, winter camping skills, and safety. Snowboarders,
randonee skiers, and telemark skiers welcome. Experienced
downhill skiers will be introduced to randonee skiing. Breakfasts,
dinners, and group camping equipment are included. Prerequisite:
Strong intermediate snowriding skills.

items. Be sure to bring money for the entrance fee into
Lassen Volcanic National Park.
Level: This
course is for beginning climbers ready for strenuous uphill
hiking wearing a heavy pack. Previous camping experience is
helpful, but not essential.
Time: 10:00
AM on Day 1, to approximately 4:30 PM on Day 3

Directions from San
Jose: From the South Bay Area take 280 south which
turns into 680 north. This eventually will allow you to take
80 north. Just past Vacaville, take 505 north, which merges
with I-5 North. Continue on I-5 until you reach the town
of Red Bluff. Take Highway 36 east to the town of Mineral.
The ranger station will be on the left just past Mineral.
Leave five hours for the drive from San Jose.
