Go beyond the basics with this informative
and enjoyable rock climbing class. Improve your climbing
by learning techniques for cracks, slab climbing, route finding,
energy conservation, and much more. A rappel will also be
part of the activities and top off a great day!
Learn the art of both constructing and
analyzing top-rope and belay anchors. Techniques for anchoring
off of bolts, trees, and boulders are covered, as well as
using cams, nuts and other removable hardware. This class
is essential for people who have experience at indoor rock
gyms, and are thinking about climbing outdoors.
Climb your first lead routes in a safe and
fun setting. This class will cover important aspects of leading
traditional and sport climbing routes. Special emphasis will
be put on the safe use of traditional gear, and all of your
placements will be critiqued by the instructor. Other areas
covered include runner and quickdraw use, clipping, lead
belaying, and rope management. A top-rope belay will allow
you to learn and practice your leading skills with confidence.
Being prepared for the unexpected is a critical
part of being a safe rock climber. This intensive course
will introduce such skills as alternative ascending, belaying
and rappelling techniques, belay escapes, lowering and raising
systems, rappel backups, and self-rescue strategies.
