Castle Rock State Park

Class Description: Go
beyond the basics with this informative and enjoyable course.
Our instructors provide valuable feedback while you push your
climbing ability on challenging routes. You will learn techniques
for cracks, slab climbing, route finding, energy conservation,
and much more. We will also cover basic top-rope anchor set-up
and evaluation, as well as safe rappelling procedures.
What to Bring:
- Comfortable clothes for cold and hot weather
- Shoes or boots with good traction
- 2-3 quarts of water
- Food (sandwich, fruit, energy bars)
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Retainer straps for glasses
- Medium size backpack to carry your items
- Consider bringing a tip for your instructor / guide for
exceptional service
Optional: Any personal climbing gear that
you would like to use for your class. Gear will be inspected
and approved by your guide on the day of the course.

to Rock Climbing or equivalent

AM to approximately 3:00 PM.

Directions from San
Jose: From San Jose take Highway 85 north to the Saratoga
Ave exit. Turn left (southwest) and follow the road through
downtown Saratoga. Once in downtown Saratoga you will be
on Highway 9. Continue on Highway 9 until you reach the stop
sign at the summit. Turn left onto Skyline Blvd. Follow the
road for a few miles. The park will be located on your right.
Please allow yourself at least 40 minutes to get to Castle
Rock after exiting Highway 85. Last food and gas is located
in downtown Saratoga.
Meeting Place: Meet
just outside the main parking lot at Castle Rock State Park.
If you park in the parking lot you will have to pay a $6
day use fee.
